  • The Author

Daniel Hawking is currently a high school student in the Bay Area of California. He is currently passing his classes. What a development! Let's fail again. That was fun. He is an avid videogamer, borrowing several ideas from his favorite video games and incorporating them into his stories. He also has many ideas of his own, being quite abstract in his thought processes. His current videogame obsession is the awesomely kickass Kingdom Hearts II. Now shut up and let me game.

[2.04] Breaking Stuff to Look Tough

[Twilight Town Streets]

[Breaking Stuff to Look Tough]

Daniel jumped on top of a building, his sword held backhanded in his right hand. An explosion reacted from some sort of object behind him – a box or a barrel or something – as a wall collapsed and a building was heavily damaged. Daniel turned and fired the pistol in his hands several times, detonating a pile of stone and sending fragments everywhere. “God damn it!” Several Heartless appeared and were instantly un-appeared by the flying fragments. “Stupid me!” Daniel backflipped off the building, falling to the ground while firing aimlessly into the sky, shooting down a cloud and sending it to its destruction, crashing into a building and taking out a wall. “The hell with the physics, dammit, I’m pissed!” Daniel slashed at a Heartless, dissipating quite boringly like before. “What the hell am I supposed to be doing!? It’s so boring nowadays.” He slumped against a wall, tired and somewhat broken. “So boring.” He closed his eyes and slept for a few hours.

He awoke to see the town shrouded in pure darkness. “What the hell is going on!?”

Haha! Such a pathetic boy!

And he’s the one who possesses the hidden power?

How pathetic.

D’aww, he’s cute.

“Who are you people!?” Daniel challenged the voices that were calling at him.

Hey, hey! Check him out!

Too bad his power’s in the wrong hands, yeah?

. . .

Oh, you? What do you have to say about this?

“I said! Where are you people! Come out, I dare you!” Daniel raised his sword. “And where the hell is this? I’ve been in the normal Twilight Town for days upon end and I haven’t seen the sky change one bit!”

Haha! Looky there, he’s lost!

Aww, is the cutie widdle baby lost?

“I dare you to come out here and say that to my face!” Daniel looked around. A person walked along the street, covered in darkness. “You there!” Daniel pointed his sword at the figure, who continued to ignore Daniel. “You! Reply, dammit!” Daniel screamed and rushed at the figure, sword raised. “Answer me!” He sliced at the figure, attempting to get that figure’s attention.

Daniel slipped and fell as he and the sword passed through the figure without resistance. “What–” He landed, facedown, as voices from nowhere laughed manicacally.

AHAHAHAHA!

“Bloody hell…” The figure looked almost exactly like Jon, in any case. “Wait a tick. This isn’t really Twilight Town, is it?”

Oh, you’re catching on well.

“Care to explain things, then?” Daniel put his hand through the Jon-figure, who continued walking along.

How about no?

“How about, that’s my line, you assholes!” Daniel slammed his sword into the ground. Unfortunately, instead of the desired effect of the sword sticking into the ground, quite the opposite happened. The sword rebounded with all the force of the strike, with said force being imparted into Daniel. “Oh, shit.” Daniel shot up several meters into the air. “Oh, shit!” Daniel landed somewhat painfully on the ground.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH-

“Put a sock in it.” Daniel brushed off the dust on his sleeve. “So, this is just to distract me, isn’t it?”

A shadowed figure appeared out of the ground nearby. “What the hell?” Daniel raised his sword. The formless shape formed into a near-perfect figure of the Daniel Hawking that stood before it, holding a Keyblade instead of the sword, mimicking his moves. “A Keyblade?” Daniel lashed out with a one-handed strike, as did his clone. The impact point exploded in a flash of dark energy. “A replica.” Daniel jumped back, the clone mirroring, and landed on a wall. Fortunately for Daniel, there was no wall behind the clone, so it remained in position as it fell to the ground, with no apparent pain. It stood up again, however, as Daniel made his slash towards it. Keyblade slashed upon sword, sword upon Keyblade. Daniel pushed off again and backflipped into the air as the clone followed, its eyes glowing yellow.

“Take this!” Daniel aimed his sword down and dashed towards the clone, landing one hit. He landed on the ground and looked up, bringing his sword over his shoulder. The clone fell downward, then recovered itself and slashed at Daniel. “Oh shi-” Daniel discarded the energy built up in the sword in a quick reflective shield and jumped back as the dark form skidded back with one hand on the ground, replica dark weapon raised into the air. “Very well.” He jumped and made a forward stab, which was deflected. “Perfect.”

Daniel smirked as the energy added from the deflection converted his stab into an upward rolling slash, cutting through the dark clone in one blow. The figure dissipated in wisps of smoke, fading into the realm around him. “That was easy. What now?” Daniel brushed some dust off of his shoulder.

Several hours later, he was still wandering around this realm of darkness. “OI, YOU PEOPLE. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO AROUND HERE?”

Take a look for yourself!

A window opened in front of Daniel. He rushed towards it with sword raised, but bounced off harmlessly. Twilight Town was burning.

“You’ve got to be freakin’ kidding me!” Daniel collapsed. “Everyone! Why the hell did I do this! What’s happening?” He leaned back against a wall, broken, in pain. “Oh shit, not again… I couldn’t save them, could I?”

He leaned his head back and looked into the sky. “Alright. Okay. Nice false image there. You can’t fool me that easily, can you?”

Aww, I guess not. But it’s been too much fun playing with you!

He-ey, time to let him go!

Who the hell are you? Wha-

Daniel could swear he heard a scream that was masked well by static.

Hey, Daniel!

“What, are you one of them too?”

Oh, can’t you just ignore that for a bit?

“No.”

Oh. Well – jump through that window!

“It won’t work.”

Do it anyways! We’ll be in contact!

“We’ll see, nobody.” Daniel sighed and holstered his sword, sticking a leg through the window in front of him.

Wait a tick. You’ll need these!

Two long swords fell out of a portal in the sky and stuck in the ground behind Daniel. “Oh, thanks.”

No problem. I’ll deal with them on this end!

“Who are you?” Daniel replaced the two long swords, completing his primary blade.

You’ll find out soon enough.

“If you say so.” A force kicked Daniel through the portal, breaking glass and depositing him on the ground. Or, at least, that’s where he was supposed to land.

Several minutes before, Riyuu was tearing out her hair at the lack of reactions she was getting to, well, anyone. Being freakin’ bored at, well, everything, she decided once again to try the datanets for any sort of information on whatever the hell was going on. Or wherever the hell other important people might be.

No dice.

So she screamed in agony at the stasis of things and decided to take a walk outside.

Again, no dice.

“HO SNAP, LOOK OUT BELOW”

“What the he-” Riyuu’s comment was cut short by the sudden landing of a 15-year-old boy.

“SWORD, DODGE IT” The boy kicked Riyuu to the side as a sword landed right where the two of them were lying in a heap the second before. “Honestly, people nowadays.”

“Daniel! Where the hell have you been!?” She kicked Daniel in the side and got up. Well, not in that order.

“Ow, some realm of darkthingy. Just had to fight for my life temporarily, thanks. You have no idea. It’s like having all your energy sucked out of you just being there. And don’t talk to me about the dark clones! Freakin’ crazy, I tell you!”

“Right, right. Well! Then get your ass inside, there’s things to discuss. We’ve found a couple more of your friends. Apparently they’re saying something about ‘crazy banshees’ and ‘Daniel was right all along.’ I’ll let that slide.” She sighed and put a hand to her forehead in disgust, shaking her head. “Dark forces are gathering on the horizon. And Ovivion’s off on some secret adventure thing.” She shrugged. “You’re going inside!”

“Very well then!” Daniel brushed the damage off his shoulder again and holstered his sword. “What’s going on this time?” Daniel stood up. “Oh, right.” He threw the sword at the window above the door to the hangout, with the sword landing on the table inside.

“HOLY SHIT!” Akizakura woke up from whatever sleep she was having. “WHAT THE F[BEEP] WHAT THAT!? I SWEAR IF SOMEONE THROWS ONE MORE F[BEEP] THING I WILL PERSONALLY TEAR YOU A NE-”

Okay then! That’s enough of that!” Daniel sighed and threw his pistol through the window again, making sure it discharged, firing a clean blue beam into the sky.

“THAT’S IT. I AM PERSONALLY GOING TO STEP OUTSIDE AND KICK YOUR F[BEEP]ING ASS RIGHT THE HELL NOW” Aki screamed and raised a particularly large axe.

“Oh shit. Postpone the meeting a bit, I need to flee temporarily.” Daniel turned around and flee’d through the city as a crazy-ass woman chased him around with an a-

How the hell do you hit the narrator anyways!
